About the Role
This is technical work in dental prophylaxis, providing technical assistance to dentists.
Responsibilities
- Assists in dental examination of pre-school children at child health conferences, schedules them for prophylaxis and sodium fluoride treatments, and administers such prophylaxis and treatment.
- Instructs children in the use of a toothbrush and consults with parents concerning dental health problems such as thumb sucking and diet; refers parents to family dentists.
- May provide technical consultation to school nurses and assist in training public health nurses in dental health principles and practices.
- Keeps records and prepares reports concerning the work.
- Performs related work as directed.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited course in dental hygiene.
- Possession of a license to practice as a dental hygienist or eligibility for such a license as issued by the Pennsylvania Dental Council and Examining Board.
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is a prerequisite for appointment.

Pay
Hourly: $33.65 || Annual: $70,000.00
Schedule
Full-time, Associate Level. Grant funded positions are contingent upon grant funding.
