Position Summary
Dental Hygienists are responsible for providing oral hygiene and preventive services to patients at the health center. Duties include removing deposits, plaque, and stains from teeth, examining gums for signs of disease, applying fluoride or sealant solutions, taking x-rays, and educating patients on proper dental health.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Dental Hygiene certification from an accredited dental hygiene school
- Current dental hygiene license from the State of Louisiana
- Current Certificate for taking radiographs
- CPR (BLS) Certification
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of oral hygiene care in outpatient settings
- Principles and practice of modern oral hygiene and periodontal patient care
- Positive attitude and demeanor
- Superior team work skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize assignments to ensure compliance with deadlines and protocols
- Good computer/dental software skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
