Dental Hygiene Instructor- Part Time

Instructor position focused on delivering high-quality instruction in classrooms, labs, and campus activities. Combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience to ensure student success and adherence to industry standards.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM (up to 30 hours per week).

Responsibilities

• Organize and deliver class objectives in a clear, concise manner.
• Foster and maintain an orderly, controlled, and safe environment for students in classrooms and labs.
• Maintain and prepare training aids, tools, and equipment in the classroom and lab.
• Keep curriculum accurate by staying up to date on industry standards and practices.
• Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical assessments.
• Provide constructive feedback and support to help students achieve academic and professional success.
• Identify and report at-risk students; create individualized success plans to mitigate attrition.
• Foster relationships with students to help them meet program competency requirements.
• Provide periodic and ad-hoc reporting to stakeholders.
• Meet with students and education personnel to discuss instructional programs and related issues.
• Provide and maintain regular, substantive interaction with students in online course components.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
• Deliver engaging lectures and lab sessions on assigned topics, diagnostic procedures, equipment operation, and troubleshooting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Bachelor’s degree from a CODA-accredited school (Dental Hygiene or Dental Surgery).
• 4 years of related practical work experience.
• Background in current educational methodology concepts consistent with teaching assignments.
• Active dental, dental hygiene license, or special permit with no disciplinary actions.
• Direct and specialized knowledge in the area of instruction.
• Expertise in the area of assignment demonstrating skills needed to provide instruction.
• Design and deliver engaging educational content, adapting teaching methods to diverse learning styles.
• Build rapport with students, clinical partners, and colleagues, fostering a positive learning environment.
• Flexibility to stay current with industry advancements and incorporate new knowledge into teaching practices.
• Competence in evaluating student performance and providing constructive feedback.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective instruction and interaction.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and participation in professional growth opportunities.

Physical Demands

• Frequently (80% or more of workday):
  • Use hearing and sight (both near and far vision).
  • Communicate with students and provide direct instruction.

  • Use fine motor skills to operate personal computers, manual and electrical equipment, and diagnostic or procedure equipment.

  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to provide instruction in labs and demonstrate procedures.

Work Environment

Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment at assigned company locations. Employees must safely ambulate on company premises. On-campus and on-site work locations include exposure to student learning environments with varied conditions. Employees must follow all safety precautions, including the use of personal-protective equipment, and adhere to site-specific safety procedures. This position is designated as on-site or on-campus to meet business needs. No travel required.
