Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for dental hygiene procedures
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments
- Set up instrument trays
- Prepare materials
- Schedule appointments
- Prepare bills and receive payment for dental services
- Complete insurance forms
- Maintain records
- Comfortable with performing tasks on a computer
Requirements
- Exposure to dental diagnostic X-Rays
- Record treatment information in patient records
- Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients
- Powder teeth, using dental instruments including cleaning and polishing removable appliances
- Aid the hygienist with perio charting and doctor’s exams
- Aid the hygienist in Scaling and Root Planing Procedures
- Apply protective coating of fluoride to teeth
- Place sealants as prescribed by dental hygienist and dentist
- Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs
- Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dental hygienists and dentists
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current license to practice dental hygiene in Oklahoma
- Experience in dental hygiene preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
