Dental Faculty

About the role

This is a full‑time, clinical track faculty position in the Department of Dentistry at Prisma Health Dentistry in Columbia, SC. The successful candidate will serve as a dental faculty member for both the Department of Dentistry and the General Practice Residency, reporting to the department chair and maintaining a reporting relationship to the South Carolina School of Medicine Dean as the Director of the General Residency Program.

Responsibilities

• Act as an outstanding clinician‑educator with expertise in clinical general dentistry.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to enhance the general practice residents’ experiences.
• Support the General Practice Residency clinics in delivering emergency and multidisciplinary comprehensive oral health care to a wide variety of patients, including those with special needs.
• Apply concepts of patient and practice management and quality improvement that are responsive to a dynamic health care environment, enabling effective functioning within the hospital on interdisciplinary health care teams.

Requirements

• Open‑rank position; initial rank based on knowledge, achievement, and experience.

• DDS/DMD degree from a CODA‑accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent.
• Completion of a CODA‑approved residency program.
• Certified to administer IV moderate sedation.
• Eligibility for a South Carolina dental license.
• Clinical, scholarly, and/or academic record consistent with each appointment level in the South Carolina School of Medicine.
