About the role

The Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine seeks a Dental Maintenance Technician to support the mission of the school through maintenance and technical support of dental equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead routine and preventative maintenance on over 200 specialized patient based clinical operatories.

  • Independently diagnose, prioritize and resolve complex failures across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems supporting patient based operations.

  • Maintain, repair and support the physical facilities and complex equipment systems within the School of Dental Medicine.

  • Ensure simulation labs, clinical operatories and auxiliary service areas remain safe, functional and operational for faculty, students and patients.

  • Utilize independent judgement and discretion in performing preventative maintenance, response to service requests (emergency vs. routine), and coordination of repair/installation services with vendors and contractors.

  • Aid in facility improvement projects.

Pre-Clinical Lab Responsibilities

  • Lead the ongoing maintenance of the pre-clinical simulation lab, consisting of 95 state-of-the-art A-dec workstations and mannequin units.

  • Provide support to the Dental IT team to ensure periodic software updates are installed and all equipment is functioning according to manufacturer specifications.

  • Maintain an adequate inventory of OEM replacement parts to ensure the lab is functioning at full capacity and that each student has a properly functioning workstation and mannequin unit.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of related experience required. Trades experience in electrical/plumbing/hydraulics/pneumatics preferred.

  • Education/Licensing: High School education required. Trade School education preferred.

  • Skills: Basic knowledge/understanding of electrical/plumbing/hydraulics/pneumatics. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. Willingness to attend specialized training program at the A-dec Training Center. Willingness to learn and work with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies.

  • Other: Ability to meet consistent attendance. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face. Ability to work on ladders is occasionally necessary. Must be able to work overtime during events such as Mock Boards, Boards, Professional's Day, Senior Check Out, Prophy Day's, Graduation and other times as may be needed.
