  • DENTAL DIRECTOR POSITION SUMMARY

    The Dental Director serves as the leader of the Dental Department, in addition to providing the standard clinical responsibilities of a staff dentist. The Dental Director provides overall supervision of dental services, organizes department-level initiatives and programs, and works collaboratively with facility and corporate leadership.

    DENTAL DIRECTOR MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Supervises and monitors clinical performance, documentation, and professionalism of all dental staff, including dentists, dental assistants, and dental hygienists. Including regular meetings with dental staff.
    • Complete site visits evaluating dental standards are being met.
    • Aid in maintaining dental staffing rates. Including screening, interviewing, evaluating credentials, and hiring of applicants within the dental department.
    • Maintain community standards of care for dental care and align departmental procedures with these Standards.
    • Comply, verify, and report on Dental Department statistics across all sites including Overdue Appointments, Dental services completed, and other reports
    • Provide dental education or teaching sessions as requested for non-dental staff.
    • Report any unusual occurrences or incidents to the site and regional leadership.
    • Perform all functions of a staff dentist including but not limited to the below items:
    • Perform and interpret radiographic exams as indicated.
    • Provide dental treatment to include emergency treatment of the teeth and surrounding soft tissues such as oral surgery, restorative dentistry and periodontal therapy within the scope of a general Dentist including extractions.
    • Correction of significant oral problems, which may adversely affect patients' health as, deemed necessary.
    • Make proper referrals for procedures which cannot be performed at facility. Manage and coordinate outside clinic or surgical triaging, referrals and scheduling.
    • Respond to grievances, ensuring compliance with standards and policy.
    • Attend required trainings and meetings.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Currently holding an active dental license in the state.
    • Maintains current DEA number.
    • Two years of experience as a dentist, preferably in corrections.
