Dental Assisting Instructor (part-time)

About the Role
The faculty member will facilitate student learning, assess their own teaching effectiveness, and adhere to ethical standards. They will also maintain licensure and certifications, particularly as part of a Perkins grant-funded program.
Responsibilities
- Teach lecture, laboratory, or clinical courses in the dental assisting program
- Adhere to course objectives, content, and delivery as part of the approved program curriculum
- Apply clinical knowledge of specific subjects, including educational methodology
- Maintain current licensure and certifications, including RDA and CDA credentials
- Establish and maintain collegial relationships with students, peers, staff, and administrators
- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and clients
- Utilize computer-based instruction and distance learning technologies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or coursework towards a Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Education or related field from an accredited institution
- Current Michigan licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant (R.D.A.) or Dentist with D.D.S./D.M.D. credentials
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) through DANB certification
- At least three years of full-time, relevant dental assisting clinic experience
- Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission, and philosophy
- Innovative, flexible, and positive teaching style
- Ability to establish and maintain collegial relationships with students, peers, staff, and administrators
- Ability to communicate effectively in various settings

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Allied Health Education or related field from an accredited institution
- Teaching experience at community college level
