Responsibilities
- Updating patient medical records and conducting X-ray procedures, including panoramic images and intraoral photographs
- Recording periodontal charting and preparing instruments and equipment for provider exams
- Performing preventative care such as fluoride treatments and monitoring nitrous oxide analgesia (Washington only)
- Educating patients on oral hygiene and assisting in infection control and sterilization of instruments
- Supporting orthodontic procedures, including obtaining records and fabricating retainers
- May perform lead duties such as managing department flow, training staff, and acting as liaison with supervisors
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED
- BLS certification within 90 days
- Dental Assistant registration or EFDA certification; registration must be completed within 7 days of hire
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) at level 10 for differential pay
- Knowledge of dental terminology, infection control, and oral health education
- Ability to perform four-handed assisting and exhibit manual dexterity
- Proficiency in Electronic Dental Records, Outlook, Word, and Excel
