Dental Assistant (Part Time)
About the role
Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH) is seeking a Part-time (20 hours per week) Dental Assistant to join our team. Our ideal candidate is a team player with previous experience in a clinic or hospital setting serving underserved populations. Compassion for and an understanding of the wide variety of issues faced by those experiencing homelessness is essential.
The Dental Assistant team works rotating schedules, conducting outreach in the field and providing care in our clinic. We operate from a harm reduction model, meeting people where they are, and view patient care holistically. Our multidisciplinary approach connects patients to resources within and outside our organization. The team is passionate about public health and our population.
AHCH complies with all OSHA and CDC guidelines regarding PPE and has procedures in place to safeguard employees. This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
Responsibilities
- Assist providers in a clinic and outreach setting.
- Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to connect patients with resources.
- Adhere to harm reduction and trauma-informed care philosophies.
- Follow OSHA and CDC safety guidelines.
Requirements
- Background in medical or dental (MA, CNA, DA, etc.).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Flexibility to work with multiple providers.
- Ability to thrive in a complex healthcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited dental assistant program with current X-ray certification.
- Experience working with underserved populations or people experiencing homelessness.
- Knowledge of harm reduction and trauma-informed philosophies.
- Bilingual or Spanish-speaking.
