Dental Assistant - Part Time 10 hours per week
Responsibilities
- Preparing patients for dental procedures
- Aiding patients during treatments
- Maintaining patient dental records
- Coordinating dental services
- Assisting Dentists with patient care, instruments, supplies, documentation
- Ensuring dental equipment is properly maintained
- Supporting the function of the dental department
- Assisting Dentists during treatment
- Providing instruments, materials, retraction or suction
- Ensuring the dental suite is clean and well-stocked
- Sterilizing and disinfecting equipment and tools
- Assisting in triage and dental sick call requests
- Scheduling appointments and managing patient records
- Explaining dental procedures and oral hygiene practices to patients
- Taking and developing x-rays
- Assisting with dental laboratory function
Qualifications
- Completion of a one or two-year dental assistant program
- Maintain the proper training and unrestricted certification as a Dental Assistant
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
- Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism, and adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
- Physical Capabilities: Stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, perform CPR, maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift
