Dental Assistant - Orthodontics

About the role

The Dental Assistant supports orthodontic care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials; passing instruments and materials; and performing procedures in compliance with the New Mexico dental standards.

Responsibilities

• Assists the doctor in procedures
• Takes x-rays and intraoral (IO) photos
• Assists in prophylaxis cleaning of teeth
• Instructs patients on oral hygiene
• Charts cavities and teeth with the doctor
• Sterilizes instruments
• Sets up, breaks down, and prepares rooms for treatment/hygiene
• Charts patient's treatment and treatment plan with the doctor

Requirements

• Certification from a dental college OR three to six months of related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)
• Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
• X-Ray New Mexico certification with license number
• BLS certification

Preferred Certificates or Licenses

• Topical Fluoride New Mexico Certification
• Sealant New Mexico Certification
• Coronal Polish New Mexico Certification with license number
