About the role
Location: Jail Main Clinic.
Provides clinical support functions to dentists, including:
- Cleaning, sterilizing and arranging instruments, equipment and rooms
- Supporting the production of radiographs
- Maintaining necessary stocks and supplies
- Moving and monitoring patients
- Opening and closing the clinic
Schedule
Full-time days, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm.
Requirements
- Education: Prefer completion of a Dental Assistant program.
- Experience: None required.
- Equivalent Experience: None.
- Certification/Registration/Licensure: Current Dental Assistant registration with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners; current Heartsaver CPR course completion card (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network) within 90 days of hire/placement.
Skills
- Effective communication with patients, hospital staff, and the general public
- Working knowledge of dental assisting techniques and equipment
- Working knowledge of oral surgery instruments and reconstructive surgery on patients
- Ability to maintain records of all necessary data
- Knowledge and skill in meeting age-related and handicapped patients' needs
- Skill in taking radiographs, blood pressure, D-sticks, cleaning and sterilizing equipment, and recognizing instrument names and order of use
