Responsibilities
- Provide support in various dental procedures, including general dentistry, surgical procedures, and anesthesia.
- Maintain surgery rooms and equipment, take and process radiographs, and dispense supplies.
- Absorb and assist residents and faculty with anesthesia of all types, including conscious sedation, nitrous oxide, and general anesthesia.
- Obtain patient consent and attach/detach monitors to access blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation, recognizing abnormal readings and reporting problems to resident/faculty surgeon.
- Chart patient vital signs throughout the procedure, verbally communicate pre- and post-operative instructions to the patient.
- Perform a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of the department.
- Assist with advanced general dentistry cases and surgical procedures requiring sedation and anesthesia.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Dental Assistant Program and have two (2) years of related experience.
- Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
- Must be able to provide assistance with advanced general dentistry cases and surgical procedures requiring sedation and anesthesia.
Qualifications
- Hard skills: Assist in four-handed dentistry, take blood pressure, recognize abnormal blood pressure and oxygen saturation readings, and report problems to residents/faculty; take and process radiographs; assist residents and faculty with anesthesia of all types, including conscious sedation, nitrous oxide, and general anesthesia; attach and detach monitors during sedation procedures.
- Soft skills: Communicate instructions to patients, obtain patient consents, maintain rooms and equipment, dispense supplies.
Pay
$16.00 - $20.50 per hour
Schedule
Monday-Friday, 7:30-4:30
