Dental Assistant II, UMKC School of Dentistry
About the role
We are seeking a Dental Assistant II to assist in our student pre-doctoral clinic. This position is designed to provide community patient care as directed by the student doctors and to educate patients on proper oral care and dental hygiene.
Responsibilities
- Assist students during dental patient care.
- Teach dental students the objectives of complete auxiliary utilization and four-handed dentistry.
- Help students clean cubicles after patient care.
- Clean, disinfect, and ready cubicles for patient care.
- Observe all safety, sterilization, dress code, OSHA and Infection Control guidelines.
- Keep DANB CDA certification current by maintaining 12 hours of continuing education.
- Take radiographs with NOMAD.
- Keep day-to-day supplies in teams always stocked.
- Answering questions or directing the appropriate questions to the doctors, students and supervisors.
- Keep informed of new materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary. Certifications as required by regulatory agencies is necessary. (Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification by DANB)
Qualifications
1-3 years of chair-side dental assisting experience is preferred. CDA certification by DANB
Skills
