Dental Assistant - Expanded Functions

About the Role

Provide clinical support in a dental practice, assisting doctors during procedures, maintaining patient flow, and ensuring a clean and organized environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with various treatment procedures and support the dental team.
• Prepare operatory rooms, sterilize equipment, and follow safety and infection control protocols.
• Take dental radiographs, assist with laboratory cases, and perform intraoral health scans.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Support administrative tasks, including supply management and record keeping.
• Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing and temporary crown fabrication, based on certification.
• Ensure emergency kits are maintained and comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulations.

Requirements

• Current Dental Assistant license and state-specific certifications.
• Radiology (x-ray) certification and CPR/BLS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years’ chairside assisting experience.
• Proficiency in sterilization, infection control, and four-handed dentistry.
• Ability to perform expanded functions and take quality impressions.
• Strong organizational, communication, and patient education skills.
