Responsibilities

  • Assist with directing the dental assistant office team to maintain productive patient flow
  • Assist doctors during a variety of treatment procedures
  • Break down operatory rooms for doctors and hygienists
  • Complete sterilization processes for equipment and operatory, ensuring staff compliance and training
  • Follow maintenance schedules for waterlines, suction lines, waterline testing, autoclave, and compressor
  • Set up trays and operatories for all procedures
  • Support patient charting for doctors at a proficient level
  • Train others on patient handoffs and monitor patient flow within the practice
  • Follow OSHA regulations, Aspen safety requirements, and HIPAA guidelines
  • Take dental radiographs (X-rays)
  • Provide patients with post-treatment oral care instructions
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies
  • Complete denture soft relines and manufacture temporary crowns
  • Monitor and aid in management of laboratory cases
  • Perform quality intraoral health scans in under 5 minutes
  • Understand and articulate the clear aligner process
  • Take quality impressions and bite registrations
  • Perform additional expanded functions based on certifications (e.g., coronal polishing, restorative functions)
  • Maintain emergency kits and oxygen tanks
  • Order and maintain supplies within practice budget
  • Perform various office tasks as necessary

Requirements

  • Current Dental Assistant License, Registration, or Certification as required by state
  • Radiology (X-ray) certification as required by state
  • Current CPR or BLS certificate
  • 2+ years of experience as a Dental Assistant
  • Proficient in chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry
  • Ability to demonstrate and instruct on proper sterilization and infection control techniques
  • Maintain and update annual Continuing Education (CE) requirements as specified by state
  • State Certification in expanded functions as required by state
