Dental Assistant Clinic/Mobile Unit
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED or higher
- Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program
- Six (6) months of work experience in a dental office or clinic, or at least 500 hours of dental clinical rotation experience
Licenses and Certificates:
- Certification as a Dental Assistant through completion of a Dental Assistant course from an accredited College or Technical School
- Certified in Dental X-ray proficiency as prescribed by the Texas Department of Public Health
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by date of appointment
General Purpose
Under general supervision, assist the dentist or dental hygienist with patient examinations and dental procedures and perform a variety of diverse and complex clerical tasks.
Typical Duties
Affix duties include:
- Registering patients and preparing patient files
- Aiding patients in filling out necessary documents for federal and state assistance
- Preparing forms for patients with insurance
- Gathering completed forms, obtaining signatures, and making photocopies of necessary documents
- Printing the dentist and hygienist's daily schedule to prepare for the day
- Sitting patients and verbally preparing them for the intended procedure
- Arranging dental instruments and materials for each patient
- Aiding in radiographic examinations, developing exposed films, and filing patients' completed films, case reports, and records
- Cleaning, sterilizing, and assembling dental instruments following treatment
- Maintaining dental equipment and the clinic area in a neat and clean condition
- Aiding in the exiting of patients via the computer
- Updating dental patient records in the Dentrix database systems by entering data
- Preparing receipts for services rendered, collecting fees, and posting daily sheets
- Answering and professionally responding to telephone calls to schedule appointments and deliver information
- Providing administrative support related to dental supplies and equipment to maintain supply inventory
- Aiding in dental mobile deployment preparations, including set-up and break-down of the unit
- Aiding the Senior Dental Assistant with any additional duties
