Key Responsibilities
- Support dental providers in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality dental care.
- Prepare treatment rooms, dental instruments, and materials for patient procedures.
- Absorb and assist dentists during examinations, restorations, extractions, and other clinical procedures.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) using proper safety and protection techniques.
- Sterilize, disinfect, and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
- Record patient information, treatment notes, and dental charting accurately in the dental record system.
- Provide patients with pre-procedure and post-procedure instructions.
- Manage dental supply inventory and ensure availability of materials.
- Schedule patient appointments and support front-office administrative duties as needed.
- Maintain infection control and universal precautions in accordance with dental standards.
- Support dental readiness, mass screenings, and preventive services when assigned.
Qualifications
- Must meet one of the following education or experience pathways:
- Graduation from a CODA-accredited dental assistant program, completion of a military dental assistant/technician program, or completion of a Red Cross Dental Assistant course—each requiring at least 12 months of experience within the past 36 months;
- Completion of a state-accredited dental assistant or dental technology program within the past 12 months;
- A minimum of 36 months of Dental Assistant experience in a private practice or military clinic within the past 48 months;
- One (1) year of full-time Dental Assistant experience within the last two (2) years.
- Ability to maintain required continuing education, if applicable.
- Must successfully pass all WJM & USCG background checks.
