Dental Assistant
About the Role
With emphasis on patient comfort and satisfaction, provide the dentist, hygienist, denturist, or other provider with assistance in the delivery of dental care and service to achieve the best possible treatment for the patient. Perform all dental procedures permitted consistent with applicable state laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain instruments, equipment, and materials for all dental procedures while ensuring patients are relaxed and comfortable.
- Perform all aspects of four-handed dentistry and dental assisting under the supervision of a dentist, within the scope outlined by the state’s dental practice act.
- Counsel patients on post-operative care and general oral health, demonstrating an understanding of evidence-based dentistry.
- Take and develop dental radiographs.
- Record patient medical history, take blood pressure, and pulse.
- Take impressions of patients’ teeth for study casts.
- Clean and sterilize all instruments in accordance with company policies and OSHA/WISHA regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized sterilization area.
- Wear protective clothing, gloves, masks, and eyewear, adhering to Willamette Dental’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy, including the use of N95 respirators as required.
- Travel to other Willamette Dental locations within a reasonable range as needed based on business requirements.
- Reliable and predictable attendance is essential.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and credentials to function as a Dental Assistant per state requirements.
- Graduation from an ADA-accredited dental assisting program and/or an EFDA (desired).
- Holds appropriate credentials per state regulations (in Washington – Registered Dental Assistant at hire).
- Sealant certification.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
Physical Requirements
The work is primarily performed while sitting and/or standing but requires occasional walking, bending, stooping, and carrying light items such as papers, books, or supplies. The incumbent uses a computer and other standard office equipment to complete tasks.
Pay
Expected hourly hiring range: $27.00 to $41.00 USD, depending on experience. The actual base pay offered will be based on factors including education, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. This position is also eligible for incentive pay in accordance with the company’s plan.
Schedule
Full-time, 4-10 hour shifts.
