Duties
Includes - but is not limited to:
- Customer Service
- Chairside Assisting
- Passes instruments safely and accurately
- Keeps operative field clear of debris
- Prepares dental medicaments and impression materials
- Assists in routine general dental procedures
- Assists in specialized dental procedures
- Images are characterized by diagnostic quality
- Imaging requests are accomplished within the desired time frame
- Implements proper infection control procedures
- Assists in scheduling appointments
- Fills gaps in the doctor's schedule
- Aids in charting findings and treatment plans
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Participates in patient identification and time out
- Monitors patient condition during treatment
- Provides accurate and understandable instructions to patients
- Modifies care as necessary based on patient's age and abilities
- Removes sutures and removes periodontal surgical dressings
- Impresses for diagnostic casts and preliminary impressions
- Places rubber dams and matrix bands
- Provides post-operative and other appropriate patient education
