About the Role
Our office is seeking a talented Dental Assistant to join our busy specialty practice. This position supports the Defiance, Wauseon, Bryan, and Ottawa locations. We are looking for a skilled Dental Assistant to help us accomplish our mission to improve the lives of our patients by providing a world-class specialty experience for every patient.
Responsibilities
You will ensure excellent patient service and lift administrative and basic dental tasks off the Dentist's shoulders. You will be focused on ensuring that the patients' needs, concerns, and questions are answered, helping keep the patient relaxed and comfortable during their visit, being the patient's go-to resource. Responsibilities include:
- Welcoming patients to the dental office
- Preparing patients for treatment, ensuring their comfort
- Selecting and setting up instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Sterilizing instruments according to regulations
- Assisting the dentist through 4-handed dentistry
- Providing oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
- Keeping the dental room clean and well-stocked
- Scheduling appointments and post-op visits
- Maintaining accurate patient records
- Assisting with payment procedures
- Traveling to the Wauseon, Bryan, and Ottawa offices
- Helping facilitate and coordinate other office responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
You are a resourceful dental assistant who loves helping patients receive the experience they deserve and helping the Dentist to provide it. - 1+ years of proven experience as a dental assistant
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
- Understanding of health & safety regulations
- Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks
- Good computer skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Well-organized and reliable
- High school diploma
- Certificate from an accredited dental assistant program (if required by law)
- Active state radiology license (if required by law)
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to operate standard office equipment
- Must be able to assist patients safely in and out of chairs or treatment areas
- Must be able to maintain clinical positioning for extended periods
- Must be able to work around medical equipment and instruments
- Must be able to adhere to OSHA and infection control standards
- Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements
- Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations
