Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and prepare patients for treatments or check-ups, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have.
  • Assist with Procedures: Set up instruments, equipment, and materials needed for dental procedures. Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry and ensure the dental room is well-prepared for each procedure.
  • Instrument Sterilization & Safety: Follow proper sterilization procedures and ensure that all dental instruments are sanitized in compliance with health regulations.
  • Lab Tasks & Post-Operative Care: Assist with lab tasks as directed and provide patients with post-operative care instructions.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, assisting with patient charts, treatment documentation, and payment procedures.
  • Scheduling & Office Support: Assist in scheduling patient appointments and ensuring the office runs smoothly with minimal disruptions. Keep the dental room clean, organized, and well-stocked.
  • Perform non-surgical tasks such as coronal polishing, if certified, and assist with other regulated tasks as allowed by local regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of dental assisting experience in a clinical setting.
  • Dental Assistant Certification (CDA or RDA) is required. Additional certifications such as EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) or Radiology Certifications are a plus.

Skills & Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization methods, and infection control protocols.
  • Familiarity with dental procedures and treatments.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in a dental office.
  • Experience with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is highly preferred.

Clinical Competence

  • Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks, such as coronal polishing, and assist with other dental procedures.

Communication & Patient Care

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with patients, providing clear instructions and ensuring their comfort.

Organization & Attention to Detail

  • Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Team-Oriented

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while providing high-quality patient care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional Certifications: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), Radiology Certification, or Dental Hygiene Assistant certification.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus but not required.
