Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and prepare patients for treatments or check-ups, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have.
- Aid with procedures, set up instruments, equipment, and materials needed for dental procedures.
- Aid the dentist through 4-handed dentistry and ensure the dental room is well-prepared for each procedure.
- Follow proper sterilization procedures and ensure that all dental instruments are sanitized in compliance with health regulations.
- Aid with lab tasks as directed and provide patients with post-operative care instructions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, assisting with patient charts, treatment documentation, and payment procedures.
- Assist in scheduling patient appointments and ensuring the office runs smoothly with minimal disruptions.
- Keep the dental room clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Perform non-surgical tasks such as coronal polishing, if certified, and assist with other regulated tasks as allowed by local regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of dental assisting experience in a clinical setting.
- Dental Assistant Certification (CDA or RDA) is required.
- Additional certifications such as EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) or Radiology Certifications are a plus.
Skills & Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization methods, and infection control protocols.
- Familiarity with dental procedures and treatments.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in a dental office.
- Experience with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is highly preferred.
- Clinical competence: Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks, such as coronal polishing, and assist with other dental procedures.
- Communication & Patient Care: Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with patients, providing clear instructions and ensuring their comfort.
- Organization & Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Team-Oriented: Ability to work effectively in a team environment while providing high-quality patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Certifications: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), Radiology Certification, or Dental Hygiene Assistant certification.
- Language Skills: Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus but not required.
