Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and prepare patients for treatments or check-ups, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have.
- Aid with procedures by setting up instruments, equipment, and materials needed for dental procedures.
- Aid the dentist during 4-handed dentistry and ensure the dental room is prepared for each procedure.
- Fulfill instrument sterilization duties and ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Maintain accurate and updated patient records, including charts, treatment documentation, and payment procedures.
- Support the office by scheduling patient appointments and maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked dental room.
- Perform non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing, if certified, and assist with other regulated tasks as allowed by local regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of dental assisting experience in a clinical setting.
- Dental Assistant Certification (CDA or RDA) is required.
- Additional certifications such as EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) or Radiology Certifications are a plus.
Skills & Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization methods, and infection control protocols.
- Familiarity with dental procedures and treatments.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in a dental office.
- Experience with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is highly preferred.
Clinical Competence
- Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks, such as coronal polishing, and assist with other dental procedures.
Communication & Patient Care
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with patients, providing clear instructions and ensuring their comfort.
Organization & Attention to Detail
- Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Team-Oriented
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment while providing high-quality patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Certifications: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), Radiology Certification, or Dental Hygiene Assistant certification.
- Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus but not required.
