Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and prepare patients for treatments or check-ups, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have.
- Aid with procedures by setting up instruments, equipment, and materials needed for dental procedures. Assist the dentist during 4-handed dentistry and ensure the dental room is prepared for each procedure.
- Follow proper sterilization procedures and ensure all dental instruments are sanitized according to health regulations.
- Assist with lab tasks as directed and provide post-operative care instructions to patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, assist with patient charts, treatment documentation, and payment procedures.
- Support the office by assisting with scheduling patient appointments and maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked dental room.
- Perform non-surgical tasks such as coronal polishing, if certified, and assist with other regulated tasks as allowed by local regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: At least 2 years of dental assisting experience in a clinical setting.
- Certification: Dental Assistant Certification (CDA or RDA) is required. Additional certifications such as EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) or Radiology Certifications are a plus.
- Skills & Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization methods, and infection control protocols; familiarity with dental procedures and treatments; understanding of health and safety regulations in a dental office; experience with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) is highly preferred.
- Clinical Competence: Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks, such as coronal polishing, and assist with other dental procedures.
- Communication & Patient Care: Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with patients, providing clear instructions and ensuring their comfort.
- Organization & Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Team-Oriented: Ability to work effectively in a team environment while providing high-quality patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Certifications: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), Radiology Certification, or Dental Hygiene Assistant certification.
- Language Skills: Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus but not required.
