About the role
The Dental Assistant plays a vital role in supporting our busy dental practice by preparing patients for dental procedures, assisting dentists and hygienists during treatments, and ensuring a clean, safe and organized clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for dental examinations and procedures.
- Aid dentists during treatments and respond to dental or medical emergencies when necessary.
- Aid dental hygienists with procedures as needed.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up trays, and ensure operatory readiness.
- Expose and process dental x-rays while maintaining x-ray equipment.
- Record treatment information and update patient dental and medical histories in records accurately.
- Provide postoperative care instructions and educate patients on oral hygiene and plaque control.
- Take preliminary impressions for study casts and fabricate temporary restorations as directed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment compliant with infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with the care team to provide excellent patient care and support clinic efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the dental team and overall patient experience.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited dental assisting program.
- Licensure: Dental x-ray certification required.
- Training and Experience: Prior experience as a dental assistant preferred. AHA CPR-BLS required.
