Dental Assistant

Responsibilities

• Preparing patients for dental procedures
• Aiding patients during treatments
• Maintaining patient dental records
• Coordinating dental services and assisting Dentist with patient care
• Assisting Dentist during treatment by providing instruments, materials, retraction or suction
• Ensuring all dental equipment is properly maintained and the dental suite is clean and well-stocked
• Sterilizing and disinfecting equipment and tools
• Aiding in triage, dental sick call requests, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records
• Explaining dental procedures and oral hygiene practices to patients
• Taking and developing x-rays
• Assisting with dental laboratory function

Qualifications

• New graduates are encouraged to apply
• Maintain the proper training and unrestricted certification as a Dental Assistant in WY
• Possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
• Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Able to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
• Display integrity, professionalism, and adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand for long periods
• Ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks like CPR
• Ability to maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift
