Dental Assistant

Key Responsibilities

• Aid the dentist during various treatment procedures
• Help patients feel comfortable
• Set up and break down operatory after treatment
• Take dental radiographs (x-rays)
• Manage infection control by preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
• Provide patients with follow-up instructions after dental treatment
• Inform patients about proper oral hygiene strategies

Qualifications

• Dental Assistant Certificate
• X-ray certification if required by state regulations

Working Environment & Physical Requirements

This is a clinical working environment where potential exposure to hazardous waste and blood-borne pathogens is possible. Requires prolonged periods of standing, sitting, leaning, and bending up to 8 hours a day. Will be required to carry, transport, and use tools and equipment. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
