About the Role

The Dental Assistant will assist the dentist effectively and efficiently in providing dental care to patients and will promote Familia Dental’s culture, mission, and values.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and escort patients in a professional and friendly manner from the reception area to and from the treatment areas.
• Ensure treatment rooms are equipped and stocked with inventory and re‑order when necessary.
• Take and record patients’ medical and dental histories and vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse.
• Document/chart all dental procedures performed during each patient visit per the dentist’s instructions and legal requirements.
• Take and develop dental diagnostic x‑rays.
• Pour and base diagnostic models and fabricate temporary restorations – as allowed by state law.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, and assist the dentist during procedures.
• Provide dental education and information to patients to ensure awareness of oral health and hygiene strategies (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing, nutritional counseling).
• Notify the Office Manager of equipment trouble or general safety concerns.
• Attend and participate in morning huddles, chart reviews, and regular office meetings.
• Recognize and be sensitive to patients’ emotions.
• Understand and follow company policies and procedures.
• Understand and follow state and federal laws related to a dental office.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Exceptional customer/patient service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
• Basic computer knowledge and experience with dental management software; Denticon experience is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, patient‑focused environment.
• Detail‑oriented.
• Able to carry out written and verbal instructions.
• Organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Meet state requirements for dental assistant duties, continuing education, or license; Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR certificate, and radiography certificate.
• Dental assisting experience is preferred, but not required.
• Experience working within healthcare or a related field is strongly preferred.

Schedule

Working hours are between Monday‑Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM, and Saturday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. The position requires 4+ days a week, 30‑40 hours per week, with availability to work Saturdays when needed. Shifts are full‑day (8‑10 hours).
