Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties.
- Aid the dentist chairside during examinations and treatments of various procedures.
- Provide an exceptional patient experience.
- Prepare instruments and materials for the dentist before procedures.
- Offer direct patient care in all dental services, including restorative, orthodontic, pediatric, endodontic, periodontic, prosthodontic, and oral surgery.
- Pass dental instruments between the dentist and assistant (4-handed dentistry).
- Ensure patients are comfortable in the chair prior to treatment.
- Sanitize and disinfect instruments, equipment, and treatment areas after each procedure.
- Instruct patients on pre- and post-operative care and provide oral health education.
- Proficient in obtaining dental radiographs and intra-oral scans/photos.
- Keep up-to-date treatment records, including charting existing restorations and planned treatments.
- Maintain inventory of daily supplies for restocking.
- Assist the dentist in providing patients with post-treatment care instructions.
Requirements
- Minimum six months of assistant experience.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, customer service, and written communication skills.
- Strong clinical knowledge and skills in patient care.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
- Experience working in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Prior to employment, a coronal polishing certificate may be preferred.
