What you'll do:
As a Dental and Business Assistant, you will work to enhance the daily operations of the clinic by providing excellent care and communication to our patients.
Dental Assistant Responsibilities:
- Prepares, sterilizes, disinfects, and maintains dental equipment, instruments, and supplies
- Collections and records patient health histories and x-rays
- Ensures patient comfort during dental procedures
- Completes charting of treatment information in the patients' dental notes from the doctor as directed
- Aid doctor in managing medical and dental emergencies
- Delivers postoperative and general oral care instructions to patient
- Maintains infection control procedures, patient privacy, and professional interactions with patients and staff
- Aid administrative team with customer service functions
- Greet and welcome patients in a warm, positive, and professional manner
- Handle patient records confidentially and respectfully, adhering to all HIPAA privacy standards
- Answer phones courteously using excellent customer service skills; relay messages accurately
- Promptly respond to voicemails, emails, and texts from patients
- Provide clear instructions, directions, and thorough answers to patient questions
- Schedule patient appointments and maintain an organized daily schedule
- Create and manage new patient accounts in the Practice Management System
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits
- Cooordinat communication and workflow between front office and clinical staff
- Manage unscheduled treatment plans and recall lists
- Place appointment reminder calls, texts, or emails
- Maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized front reception area
- Aid in coordinating temporary staffing coverage as needed
- Review treatment plans with patients and explain treatment and payment options
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant with front desk knowledge/insurance
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting Program or dental assistant experience preferred but not required
- Previous customer service or office experience
- Proficiency or the ability to become proficient within 90 days in dental terminology and dental software for charting, treatment planning, clinical notes, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Foster a positive attitude and be a team player
Patient Care Hours:
- Monday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
