About the role
The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County seeks a Dental Assistant to support the Dental Clinic. This position involves completing monthly state dental activity reports and Ryan White demographic reports. The incumbent will be responsible for initial and follow-up patient interviews, maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments, preparing dental materials, sterilizing equipment, and performing X-ray operations.
Responsibilities
- Completes monthly state dental activity reports and Ryan White demographic reports.
- Operates Panorex and bitewing x-ray equipment, autoclave/sterilizer.
- Uses commonly used office equipment such as computers, printers, fax machines, label makers, and paper shredders.
- Uses Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Teams).
- Communicates effectively and establishes working relationships.
- Maintains records of dental patients, prepares billing for Medicaid patients, and performs patient reception duties.
- Prepares dental materials, orders supplies, and manages inventory.
- Performs chair-side assistance during dental procedures, maintains dental equipment, and cleans the instrument cabinet.
- Exposes and develops X-rays, inputs data into electronic health records, and manages business records.
Requirements
- Minimum: 6 months of customer service or administrative experience.
- Preferred: Certification as a Dental Assistant, Dental X-ray equipment certification, and bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
