About the role
Under close supervision from faculty dentists, dental residents or higher-level dental assistants, performs duties in support of dental office and operatory functions.
Responsibilities
- Seating the patient
- Taking and developing x-rays
- Absorbing fluids and handing instruments during treatment
- Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and trays
- Setting up operatory prior to treatment
- Cleaning up operatory after treatment
- Answering phones
- Making appointments
- Maintaining patient records
- Maintaining supply inventory
Requirements
- Experience in dental office practices and procedures and routine chairside assisting
- Current Basic Life Support
Preferred Qualifications
- Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Education/experience/licensing: Experience in dental office practices and procedures and routine chairside assisting. Courses in dental offices practices and clinical procedures may be used in lieu of experience. Current Basic Life Support.

- Demonstrates competency in the care of the patient in the following stages of the life cycle: infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
