About the Role

As a Group Leader, you’re more than a staff member—you’re a role model, cheerleader, teammate, and memory-maker! Every day brings something new, from epic games and crazy challenges to creative activities, laughter, friendships, and those little moments that kids remember forever. You'll inspire children through positive role modeling, exciting activities, and meaningful connections while helping ensure our program runs smoothly and safely. You'll work alongside a passionate team dedicated to making every child feel valued, included, and empowered.

Responsibilities

  • Bring the energy! Keep kids excited, engaged, and ready for whatever comes next.
  • Create the fun! Take initiative and lead games, activities, challenges, crafts, adventures, and experiences kids will love.
  • Be the role model! Encourage kindness, confidence, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
  • Make connections! Get to know your kids, celebrate their successes, and make every child feel seen and valued.
  • Keep the adventure going! Think on your feet, get creative, and be ready to jump into the fun.
  • Be part of an awesome team! Work together under a Site Coordinator to create an amazing experience for every child.
  • Keep kids safe and supported while making sure everyone has a place to shine.
  • Help set up, clean up, and keep the site flowing smoothly.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age with 6 months of school-age experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Evidence of physical examination within the last 12 months.
  • Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work as part of a cohesive team.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
  • Strong oral communication skills for occasional public speaking responsibilities.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75 lbs on occasion and 40 lbs frequently (children), and move intermittently during work hours.
  • Thorough understanding of Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; proven ability to identify and meet the needs of children.
