Responsibilities
- Drive a vehicle to transport supplies and equipment to and from stores, hospitals, or other facilities.
- Deliver all equipment to patients or healthcare facilities in a timely manner.
- Collect cash, checks, and credit card information as instructed on delivery invoices.
- Return completed paperwork and collected payments promptly.
- Provide education to patients and caregivers on the proper use, safety, and maintenance of equipment.
- Ensure equipment-specific instruction sheets are left with patients/caregivers.
- Comply with The Joint Commission (TJC) policies and procedures regularly.
- Perform an environmental assessment to determine the best placement of equipment for use and patient safety.
- Ensure equipment is set up according to organizational policies and procedures.
- Inform patients of all emergency numbers and procedures.
- Leave HMH Medical Equipment and Infusion brochures with patient at time of delivery.
- Inform patients of the organization's availability commitment for 24/7 oxygen emergencies.
- Be on-call, attentive, and prompt for any after-hours emergency deliveries.
- Respond to pages from service within 15 minutes and complete emergency calls/deliveries within 2 hours of page.
- Avoid contamination by following infection control policies and procedures.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
- Manage inventory control of equipment and supplies on vehicles.
- Routinely stock extra equipment like oxygen concentrators, walkers, commodes, and wheelchairs on vehicles for prompt deliveries.
- Identify and report quality issues to participate in continuous quality improvement processes.
- Drive vehicles safely and follow all speed limits, traffic lights, and signs.
- Refuel, clean, and perform required servicing and repairs on vehicles.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or equivalent programs.
- One year of service work experience.
- Strong customer service and training skills.
- Durable Medical Equipment (DME) experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license from a USA state.
