We believe that our Delivery Professionals are the heart and soul of our business, serving as the primary ambassadors to our valued customers. This role involves delivering new caskets to funeral homes in the surrounding area using company box trucks and vans.
About the role
Matthews International is a worldwide leader in casket manufacturing, providing the highest quality wood, metal, and cremation caskets and other products to funeral home customers from our Abilene, TX Service Center.
Responsibilities
- Delivery of new caskets to funeral homes in the surrounding area using company box trucks and vans.
- Contribute to warehouse operations, including prepping, loading and unloading caskets, inventory management, and maintaining an organized workspace.
- Provide friendly and welcoming customer service.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Must have a current driver’s license (CDL is NOT required).
- Ability to pass a DOT Physical and MVR Check.
- Maintain a safe driving record, demonstrating responsible and cautious driving behavior.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
- Previous delivery driver experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and Internet applications.
- Basic analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management, and planning skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, and reasoning).
- Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers, colleagues, and clients.
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
Physical Aspects / Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk, hear, and see.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment may be high.

Pay
$20 per hour.
Schedule
- First Shift starting at 4 or 5 AM until finish, with professionals typically home by early afternoon.
- 3-4 days per week, with availability needed on rotating Saturdays.
- Expected weekly hours: 25-29.
