About the role
The Delivery Driver plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of creating lasting value for those we serve by providing efficient and safe delivery of our products and services, while representing the company in a professional manner. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers through effective communication, ensuring quality and accuracy of products, and keeping customers informed about our company and services. The Delivery Driver also contributes to our sales process by seeking additional business from current customers, passing leads to sales functions, and sharing customer and competitor intelligence with sales groups.
Responsibilities
- Deliver products to local customers and obtain proof of delivery
- Provide excellent customer service
- Load and unload the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner
- Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives
- Maintain a high standard of driving performance
- Maintain compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements
- Communicate effectively with department leads and branches on all job-related issues
- Maintain vehicle and shipping/receiving dock cleanliness and order
- Follow processes and procedures for effective job performance
- Participate in company process improvement initiatives
- Provide coverage in areas with low staffing and high workload
- Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment
- Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the delivery vehicle
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to meet and maintain qualifications as required by the DOT
- Class A CDL required
- Six months previous delivery or courier experience preferred
- Demonstrated computer skills
- Ability to lift 100 lbs
- Knowledge of Eclipse preferred
- Knowledge of handheld RF scanner is a plus
- Ability to operate lift truck equipment
- Ability to work a flexible shift

Pay
Several factors are considered in making compensation decisions at Van Meter, including but not limited to education, skill sets, work experience and training, and other business and organizational needs. Please note that compensation may be below the lower end of the range when the minimum requirements of the role are not met, and the higher end is reserved for candidates with extensive experience and qualifications that exceed the requirements of the role.
