About the role
This position delivers products—including hazardous materials—to customers from Sherwin-Williams stores using box and flat-bed trucks. Drivers ensure orders are complete, packed correctly, and safely delivered. The role involves customer interaction, handling cash/payments, electronic equipment, personal information, and store merchandise, with or without supervision. A criminal-history review is required to protect the business, its operations, reputation, and the safety of customers, staff, and the public.
Responsibilities
- Prepare deliveries to meet customer requirements efficiently.
- Load customer orders properly on the truck.
- Complete appropriate forms for deliveries.
- Transport and deliver items to customers safely and on time.
- Maintain the store vehicle and report repair/service needs to supervisors.
- Provide excellent customer service, answer questions, and handle complaints.
- Adhere to assigned routes and follow time schedules.
- Abide by all transportation laws and maintain a safe driving record.
- Prepare reports and other documents related to deliveries.
- Operate equipment such as cars, trucks, forklifts, etc.
- Perform additional store tasks, including warehouse duties, tinting, mixing customer orders, and assisting customers.
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
- Valid, unrestricted Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a hazardous materials endorsement.
- Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) from a DOT-licensed examiner on the FMCSA National Registry (or willingness to obtain one within five business days of a conditional offer).
- Able to retrieve materials from shelves/floor stacks and lift/carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willing to work all scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Able to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway signs/signals, respond to inquiries, and complete reports/records.
- If internal to Sherwin-Williams: received at least a “meets expectations” (3) rating on the most recent performance appraisal and completed all required HR Cloud eLearning courses for your current position.
Qualifications
- Preferred: High School diploma or GED.
- Preferred: At least one year of experience as a delivery driver.
- Preferred: At least one year of experience using material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacu-hoists, drum dollies, conveyor belts).
- Preferred: Previous work experience selling paint and paint-related products.
- Preferred: Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language (e.g., Spanish).
