How This Role Connects to Our Compass

  • We Keep Our Promises: Ensure deliveries are on time and accurate, addressing any discrepancies promptly.

  • We Stay Hungry: Stay informed about DOT compliance and continuously seek ways to improve efficiency.

  • We Grow Together: Collaborate with the warehouse team to support smooth operations and build correct loads.

  • We Own It: Take responsibility for your load and vehicle, conducting thorough pre- and post-trip inspections.

  • We Go Above & Beyond: Represent Shepherd professionally at every delivery, ensuring a positive customer experience.

Key Outcomes

  • Routes are run on time and deliveries are complete and correct, with minimal recurring errors or missed stops.

  • Pre-trip and post-trip inspections are completed every shift without prompting.

  • Discrepancies are documented and communicated the day they occur, not later.

  • Clients and job site contacts report professional, reliable interactions.

  • Vehicles are returned in good condition, fueled, and ready for the next run.

  • The warehouse team trusts that loads you help stage or pack are correct before they leave the building.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • CDL Class B license required.

  • Current DOT and Medical Certification cards required.

  • Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience with a clean motor vehicle record.

  • Ability to operate straight trucks, box trucks, and flatbed vehicles; flatbed experience a plus.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain through onsite training.

  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

  • Strong verbal communication skills — clear and timely information relay.

  • Familiarity with Richmond-area delivery routes preferred.

Who Thrives Here

  • You take safety seriously, conducting thorough pre- and post-trip inspections without prompting.

  • You communicate problems early, not after they become someone else's issue.

  • You take pride in representing the company professionally at every delivery.

  • You are reliable, consistently showing up ready and executing tasks.

  • You treat the warehouse as part of your team, not a separate function.

  • You understand that a missed delivery or a sloppy load is not just a logistics problem but a broken promise to a customer.
