Delivery and Set Up Driver
About the role
The primary responsibility of this role is to efficiently and professionally pick up, relocate, and deliver office equipment while ensuring safety and quality. Installation and networking tasks may be part of the delivery process. This position impacts future customer purchasing decisions through its professionalism and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Safely deliver equipment to the correct location
- Maintain log books in compliance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual)
- Perform pre and post-trip reviews to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT and state laws
- Perform pick-up of product at the same time as delivery to minimize costs
- Perform basic connected installations, such as setting up IP addresses, downloading print drivers, removing hard drives when required, backing up and uploading customer’s existing address book, and providing basic customer training on printing standalone and network devices
- Participate in safety programs
- Pre-call customers when applicable
- Achieve expected productivity levels associated with assigned workload and level of experience
- Demonstrate good technical skills
- Demonstrate excellent customer relations skills
- Identify customer needs and determine appropriate actions; refer calls to appropriate parties
- Provide constructive feedback to service and process teams regarding networking and installation initiatives
- Provide basic customer training on printing standalone and network devices
- Complete technical training on new equipment as required
- Maintain professional appearance in driver uniform
- Contact Dispatch and/or service department if technician is needed
- Ensure equipment is configured to the Bill of Lading, traveler or other documentation provided
- Ensure equipment is properly loaded and secured in the boxed van/truck
- Use of phone to capture electronic customer signature upon completion of scheduled transactions
- Ensure all paperwork is signed and properly processed, as required
- Load/Unload trucks as needed
- Help train new Delivery Drivers on new products & proper loading, where applicable
- Follow all accident/incident reporting guidelines and procedures
- Conduct cycle counts and inventory reconciliation when required
- Reconcile inventory at the end of the day based on route completion and report discrepancies
- Meet appropriate productivity/quality standards relative to assigned job responsibility as outlined by manager
- Responsible for an inventory value of up to $1,000,000
- Overnight stays may be required
- Operate and use of warehouse equipment, i.e., forklift, stair climber, pallet jack, is required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Safe driving record and history
- Online technical training focused on networking and installation
- On-the-job training with field technicians at customer location and/or at Transfer Center
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle according to FMCSR regulations
- Valid and current medical card is required
- At least 20 years of age, properly licensed in current state of residence
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Valid commercial driver's license is required if applicable per state
- Ability to physically handle oversized and overweight equipment
- Identification of at-risk behaviors and ability to make quick corrections
- Strong customer presentation and communication skills
- Familiarity with utilizing and learning smart phones and/or tablets with handheld electronic technology
- Basic computer skills
- Adequate technical skills to install/network equipment
- Possess a methodical approach to resolving problems that could arise during the day
- Adequate reading, math skills, and ability to write legibly
- May be required to be certified on operation and use of warehouse equipment, i.e., forklift, stair climber, etc.
