About the role

Company Deli Cooks creates an exceptional customer service experience by planning, preparing, cooking, and serving quality foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while ensuring the deli department is properly maintained.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate service.
• Read recipes, prepare and mix ingredients, chop/peel vegetables and meats, and cook foods using various utensils, grills, and stove tops.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored correctly.
• Maintain a sanitary kitchen area in compliance with company policies and industry standards.
• Comply with safety and health standards to ensure safe handling of food.
• Prepare food/deli products to meet customer specifications.
• Identify, correct, and report unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
• Properly clean equipment and tools utilized.
• Minimize shrinkage through proper handling of products.
• Provide assistance to co-workers.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and all regulations.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Strong communication skills with both customers and coworkers.
• Knowledge of and experience complying with equipment, safety principles, practices, procedures, and strategies to promote effective operations for the protection of people and property.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate equipment necessary to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to work flexible schedules through the day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience as a cook in a retail/service environment.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 pounds with frequent walking and standing.
• Frequently kneels, stoops, reaches, pushes, pulls, and carries medium to heavy items.
• Work is performed indoors in a refrigerated climate-controlled setting.
