About the role

Join Sprouts Farmers Market, one of the fastest growing natural foods retailers, as a Deli Clerk. This role is ideal for individuals excited to share their passion for food while working in a professional kitchen preparing and cooking meals.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in making healthy food choices by preparing “fresh and easy meals.”
• Provide a high level of customer service and ensure Deli items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented while maintaining cleanliness of the Deli department.
• Fill, maintain, and rotate products and displays.
• Prepare special orders and party trays.
• Operate meat and cheese slicers, ovens, microwaves, cutting tools, scales, and other deli equipment following company standards and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary deli area and equipment, including cleaning shelves, products, floors, and removing hazardous debris.
• Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality.
• Answer phones and take special orders.
• Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work areas (tables, floors, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.).
• Operate slicers, wrapping, and cooking equipment; assist in maintaining all equipment in safe working condition.
• Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations; achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
• Work in different temperature environments (cooler and freezer).
• Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working in grocery, restaurant, or related field; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Dependable and reliable with an outgoing, friendly behavior and positive attitude.
• Ability to interact with customers and work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Good communication skills and ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
• Ability to lift and carry product weighing up to 70 lbs., from 4” to 60”, for a distance up to 20 feet without mechanical assistance for up to 4 hours.
• Ability to stand for up to 4 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift.
