Responsibilities

• Assist customers in making healthy food choices by preparing “fresh and easy meals.”
• Provide a high level of customer service and ensure Deli items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented while maintaining cleanliness of the Deli department.
• Fill, maintain, and rotate products and displays.
• Prepare special orders and party trays.
• Operate meat and cheese slicers, ovens, microwaves, cutting tools, scales, and other deli equipment following company standards and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary deli area and equipment, including cleaning shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris, and sweeping.
• Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent; experience in grocery, restaurant, or a related field, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Dependable, reliable, and outgoing with a friendly, positive attitude.
• Flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Good communication skills; ability to take direction and work in a team environment.
• Ability to answer phones and take special orders.
• Physical ability to lift/carry product up to 70 lb., from 4” to 60”, for a distance up to 20 ft without mechanical assistance for up to 4 hours, and stand continuously for up to 4 hours per shift (8 hours total).
• Perform general housekeeping; clean and sanitize work area (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.).
• Operate slicers, wrapping, and cooking equipment; assist in maintaining equipment in safe working condition.
• Adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations; obtain and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
• Work in different temperature environments (cooler and freezer).
• Other related duties as assigned.
