About the role
The Deli/Bakery Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and organized environment in the deli/bakery section of Fresh Thyme Markets. This position requires adherence to departmental procedures and a friendly, energetic demeanor.
Responsibilities
- Ensures cleanliness of deli/bakery cases, storage area, and work area for safety
- Stocks deli/bakery cases, including presentation, facing, filling, and organization
- Examines and discards expired or spoiled products
- Assists customers with inquiries and purchases, cross-selling products as needed
- Receives, inspects, and logs products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
- Maintains point of purchase signs and promotional materials
- Prepares various deli/bakery items using appropriate ingredients and cooking times
- Uses scales and measures to accurately weigh and label products
- Participates in pre-inventory preparation, including backstock and ensuring tags match products
- Sustains a high level of product knowledge and preparation
- Walks department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and clean appearance
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency degree
- Preferred 1-2 years grocery retail experience in Food Service department processes and procedures
- Previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus
Qualifications
- Advanced attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to adapt to varying situations and work varied hours/days
- Familiarity with Health Department guidelines and regulations
- Basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures
- Skills working with food service equipment such as knives, slicers, scales, and ovens
- Ability to cut and weigh various amounts of meats, salads, and cheeses

Pay
Competitive compensation with raises based on Fresh Thyme Market plan policy. Starting rates range from $15.75 to $17.13 per hour.
