Definitive Observation Unit CNA
About the role
We are seeking a Definitive Observation Unit CNA, also referred to as DOU Certified Nursing Assistant, Step-Down Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Progressive Care CNA. This role involves providing direct patient care to individuals who require closer monitoring than on a regular med-surg floor but are not critical enough for the ICU in our DOU. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Take and record frequent vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation
- Absist patients with bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, oral care, and feeding support
- Monitor and document intake and output while observing for and reporting any changes in patient condition
- Support nursing staff in providing high-quality care to patients requiring close observation in a step-down unit
Requirements
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire
- Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current
- Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred
