About the role
SpecterOps is seeking a Security Operations Specialist to support our client's Security Operations Center (SOC) in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security operations, excellent communication skills, and experience working in a service-based information security environment.
Responsibilities
- Independently support the client engineering, managing, and monitoring SOC systems
- Support incident response activities and digital forensics, including capturing and preserving system logs, volatile memory captures, and hard drive images
- Operate in SOC environments and maintain knowledge of SIEMs and cloud architectures (AWS or Azure)
- Conduct host forensics, network forensics, log analysis, and malware triage in support of hunt operations
- Interface with client contacts and staff in a professional manner
- Develop comprehensive and accurate reports and presentations for both technical and executive audiences
Requirements
- Current TS/SCI clearance or eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information designation
- Operating hours: Monday through Friday, 9AM - 6PM US Eastern Time
- Available for after-hours or weekend work in urgent incident response scenarios
- Experience in SOC environments, either through relevant experience or qualifications
- Knowledge of SIEMs and cloud architectures (AWS or Azure)
- Experience with programming or scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, and Bash
- Experience conducting host forensics, network forensics, log analysis, and malware triage
- Ability to train others on forensic and incident response techniques and tools
