About the role
CAL FIRE is seeking a Defensible Space Inspector to support wildfire-prevention efforts within the San Benito–Monterey Unit. The role focuses on conducting PRC 4291 and AB 38 defensible space inspections, providing wildfire-preparedness and home-hardening education to residents, documenting compliance using departmental mobile devices, performing re-inspections, identifying non-compliant properties, and assisting with defensible space outreach and inspection-program operations.
The position also manages inspection records, prepares official notices, ensures quality control of field data, and delivers recurring training on defensible space laws, inspection processes, and technology use.
