About the role
The Dean of Social Sciences and Human Services leads the division in ensuring that programs, courses, activities, and events align with the college’s strategic vision, THRIVE 2035. They provide leadership for academic disciplines, represent the division in partnerships and articulation efforts, and manage operational aspects of the division.
Responsibilities
- Promote academic excellence and student success
- Ensure programs, courses, and services are aligned with the college’s strategic vision
- Represent the division in partnerships and articulation efforts
- Manage operational aspects of the division
- Assist with the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of the division's educational programs and services
- Foster a cooperative and collaborative environment
- Provide direction for evaluation and review of division curriculum and services
- Develop and implement a student-centered course schedule and a divisional strategic enrollment plan
- Oversee the divisional planning process
- Foster an open environment for addressing student needs and concerns
- Assume responsibility for managing and overseeing facilities which house the division and its activities
- Direct and manage operational aspects of the division
- Address students' needs pertaining to division activities
- Perform annual objectives mutually determined with the Provost / Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Success, including personal and professional growth plans
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline
- College teaching experience and/or demonstrated academic leadership
- An earned doctorate (or other appropriate terminal degree) preferred
- Experience working in a community college setting preferred
