About the role
The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the School of Information, responsible to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs for oversight and quality of the School’s academic and research programs. The Dean of UMSI serves as the chief steward of the School’s vision-setting and strategy implementation and is thus key to UMSI realizing that vision.Responsibilities
- Oversee the academic and research programs of the School of Information.
- Ensure high standards of academic and professional integrity in all activities of the School.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the School, aligning with the University’s broader goals.
- Represent the School of Information externally, including engaging with industry partners and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to foster an inclusive and supportive environment.
- Manage the School’s budget and resources effectively.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the School’s faculty and staff.
Requirements
- PhD in Information Studies, Library Science, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in higher education administration, preferably in a similar academic setting.
- Proven track record of successful leadership and strategic planning.
- Experience in developing and implementing innovative educational programs and research initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
